Terms of Use
What you agree to by using rctuners, in the plainest language we can manage.
These documents describe how rctuners actually works, but they have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. They will be before the site opens.
Who we are, and what this is
rctuners is a community site for radio-control builders: a catalogue of parts and brands, fit reports, a marketplace for buying, selling and swapping between members, groups and messages, and events run by brands, stores and clubs.
These terms are an agreement between you and rctuners. By creating an account you accept them and the Privacy Policy.
You need to be 16
You must be at least 16 to hold an account. We ask your date of birth once to check this and keep only the answer, never the date.
If we learn an account belongs to someone under 16, we close it.
Your account and your handle
You are known here by a handle. We do not ask for your real name and you should not feel obliged to give it.
You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has it.
Some handles are not available: our own names, and the names of RC brands. Brand handles are held for the brands themselves, who can claim them. If you take a handle that impersonates a person, a brand or rctuners, we will reassign it.
You can change your handle every 60 days. The old one is held for 90 days and then released.
What you post
You keep ownership of everything you post — your photos, your fit reports, your listings, your messages.
You give us permission to store and display that content so the site can work: showing your listing to buyers, your fit report on a product page, your message to the person you sent it to. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we must keep a record (see the Privacy Policy).
Post things you have the right to post. Do not post other people's photos as your own, and do not post anything unlawful, hateful, or designed to deceive.
Buying, selling and swapping
We are not a party to your deals. rctuners never takes payment, holds funds, escrows money or takes a cut. Members arrange payment and delivery between themselves, by whatever means they agree.
That means the risk is yours: check what you are buying, prefer methods that protect you, and meet in public if you meet at all. We provide identity, reputation, message history and a dispute record — not a guarantee.
Describe what you are selling honestly, including the faults. Counterfeit goods sold as genuine are removed and the account with them. Clones and replicas are part of this hobby and are allowed when they are labelled as what they are.
Fit reports
A fit report is your own experience of putting a part on a vehicle. Report what happened, including when it did not fit.
Reports are opinions and observations, not instructions. Check your own work; we cannot verify every report and do not warrant that a part will fit your build.
Brands and stores may respond to a report. They may not have an honest report removed.
Brand, store and shop pages
Brand, store and repair-shop pages start as community-maintained entries. The real owner can claim a page and take over its content.
Claiming a page gives an owner editorial control and the ability to respond. It does not give them the ability to delete member reviews or honest fit reports.
Advertising and sponsorship
Verified brands and stores may buy advertising. Every ad is labelled, and ads never appear in your messages.
Paid placement never changes organic search results — ads occupy their own slots and are marked as such.
Event sponsorship is a disclosure, not an ad, and a sponsor must confirm before their name appears.
Behaviour, and what we do about it
Be straight with people. Harassment, scams, spam and impersonation get content removed and accounts restricted, suspended or closed.
We tell you when we act on your account and why, and you can appeal once.
You can close your account yourself at any time, from your privacy settings.
What we do not promise
The site is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption or free of mistakes.
We are not responsible for the conduct of other members, for deals that go wrong between members, or for a part that does not fit your vehicle.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes, and the law that applies
If we change these terms materially, we will tell you and ask you to accept the new version before you carry on posting, listing or messaging.
Governing law and dispute resolution are not settled yet and depend on where rctuners is established. This section will be completed before launch.
