A model is a kit, a ready-to-run car, or a part — the thing a brand actually sells, with the number printed on the box.
It is what makes fitment answerable
A rig names a model rather than describing one, so “does this fit mine?” is a question about two rows and not about two paragraphs.
Anyone can fill in a gap
Part numbers are left blank rather than guessed. A wrong one sends someone to buy the wrong thing, so a blank is an invitation, not an oversight.
